As with all projects, I started by doing a lot of research on the subject. World of Guns was an absolute lifesaver when trying to find a Glock. Slowing down the animation, hiding parts, etc. made it very easy to hack. Of course, many reference photos were used to capture some of the finer details.
Once I had a better understanding of how the Glock worked, I started making models. As a starting place for the look, I purchased a pre-built Glock 19 model from TurboSquid. The interior had to be fully modeled to accommodate all the working parts.

In the end, I created about 50 separate parts for the entire model in Cinema 4D:
After completing the hardware, I had to open the frame, slide, barrel, and magazine UVs. It was necessary to make the parts right. RizomUV made it very easy and fun to do:
When I was happy with the storyboard, I was ready to move on to animation. The Cinema 4D technology system helped me organize each of my shots:
There was no way I could capture every frame on my 2012 MacBook Pro. I've heard a lot of great things about Pixel Plow and decided to give it a try. It was very easy and cheap to render an animation of about 3 minutes. If you want to use render shapes, I highly recommend them.

The final step was to combine all the frames inside Effects. Here I added special effects and transitions to really pop things up.
I used a great guy named Andy Taylor to do the voiceover for the animation. I highly recommend this if you are looking for professional sound in your projects.
The music in the animation is a track of killer tracks. They are a bit more expensive, but they have a large library of content to choose from.
This is a very brief description of what was included in the Glock project. You can see that there are many parts that make up the whole animation.
